The papers consist of eight volumes of material relating to Sir Edward Deas Thomson and John Deas Thomson. The first four volumes (1823-1883) are mainly concerned with the constitution, government, and social life of New South Wales. The additional four volumes (1773-1825) relate to South Carolina.
