Eliab Grimes correspondence and order book for the brig Owhyhee, 1820-1846 (bulk 1820-1827).

Letters (1820-1827) to Grimes while he was master of the brig Owhyhee, mostly from the owners, Josiah Marshall and Dixey Wildes, in Boston, Mass.; and an order book (1823-1824). Letters concern Grimes' business aboard the Owhyhee on its trading voyages between the Sandwich Islands, Calif. and elsewhere along the Northwest Coast, and China. Also includes a letter from the artist E.M. Kirn, dated Nov. 17, 1846, written to Grimes in Yerba Buena, placing an order for merchandise; and an undated letter to Grimes' brother, Nathan Grimes, from Thaddeus Reed.
