Consists of a letter (5 p.) to Cofran, Street, and Booth, giving a firsthand account of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. Includes commentary on the Army regarding roles of feeding refugees, keeping order in the city, and efforts to stop the fire. Includes a letter (1 p.) from J.W.G. Cofran at the Hartford Fire Insurance Company, Western Department, Chicago, to Mrs. Julia B.L. Scott in Cantonsville, Md., dated Apr. 26, 1906, with which Cofran enclosed and forwarded Gunn's letter.
