From 1915 to 1932 the State Auditor was authorized to exercise control over "all lands which had been sold to the state for taxes unpaid; all 16th section lands; all school indemnity lands; the salt springs land reservation; and all swamp and overflow lands" (Ala. Acts, 76, p. 217 [1915]). This series is comprised of correspondence between the State Auditor's office and landowners, probate judges, and attorneys. Topics covered by the correspondence include the purchase and sale of land, land ownership, and land redemption.
