Annual reports : state publication, 1912-1970.

The annual reports of the Alabama Boys Industrial School present a history of the school from its first home, an old, whitewashed log cabin and tent for sleeping. Included are reports of the Superintendent, Treasurer, and other officers; reports from various units; for example, the farm and garden, military, greenhouse, printing, carpentry, literary, primary, sewing, band, and schools units; financial statements; minutes of Board meetings; statistics of admissions and discharges, by county; recommendations; special events of the year; and statements on conditions; i.e., a poorly located kitchen, inadequate laundry facilities, the general health of the inmates, and building improvements. Later reports contain more detailed financial statements and descriptions of administrative organization. Photographs illustrate buildings, activities, trustees and officials, and special events.
