These records are created/maintained to document the Attorney General's role in the legal proceedings before the Alabama Public Service Commission and the Alabama Supreme Court in which South Central Bell sought to collect additional revenues by increasing its rates after the AT&T divestiture. The outcome of this case was that South Central Bell was allowed to operate under the Rate Stabilization and Equalization (RSE) plan. Tha plan generates a rate of return within an approved range rather than one that yields a fixed rate of return. The RSE plan was also utilized by Alabama Power Company and Alabama Gas Corporation to adjust their utility rates. Information available in these records includes docket number, date, statement of case, testimony transcripts, exhibits, briefs, Public Service Commission orders, and court decisions.
