Inspection reports, 1983-[ongoing].

The Department of Finance is obliged to inspect all property insured by the State Insurance Fund, annually if possible, to determine what hazards are present and to give a copy of the inspection report to the person in charge of the property (Ala. Code, 41-15-4(d) [1975]). The State Insurance Fund sends employees out to make the annual inspections and they complete the reports. The report contains such information as the number of exits, type of heating system, fire protection devices in the building, adequacy of electrical circuits, and suggested repairs or corrections needed.

The State Insurance Fund was initially established in 1923 (Ala. Acts, 593, p. 769 [1923] and Ala. Code, 8539-8554 [1923]). Its purpose is to insure all state owned buildings, buildings in which the state has a financial interest, and property or equipment in such buildings.
