Julia Louisa Lee, author, married Dr. John Washington Keyes in Tuskegee, Macon Co., Ala., on 1846 Nov. 4. After he served in the Confederate Army, the entire family moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1867, to join the Gunter colony. Dr. Keyes became dentist to the emperor and to the royal family, and was succeeded in that position by his son-in-law, Dr. John William Coachman. Julia and Dr. Keyes had eleven children.
