A professor at the University of Tübingen, Julius Eugen Schlossberger was one of the founders of physiological chemistry. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, on May 31, 1819, Schlossberger received his medical degree from Tübingen in 1840 and as a young physician, he worked at the Katherinenhospital in Stuttgart and as personal physician to the Graf Solm-Hoogstraaten.
