Louis M. Antisdale was editor of the Rochester Herald and was also active in local, state, and national politics. Antisdale played an important role in political appointments at all levels of government. This correspondence documents his role in the recommendation or disapproval of candidates for various appointive offices. Among the correspondents represented are W.G. McAdoo, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury; David B. Hill; Robert Lansing, U.S. Secretary of State; Edward M. House, Aide to President Wilson; and James T. Lloyd, Democratic National Congressional Committee.
