Politics general files--anti-communism and other movements, 1930-1980.

The records document Consumers' Research's interest in communism, socialism, liberalism, and fascism in the United States and how these political theories were linked to Consumers' Research's anti-communist philosophy. By collecting information on various political movements, individials, and organizations involved in certain labor, civil rights, consumer, scientific, leftist, or New Deal causes, Consumers' Research invented and reinforced their strategies on how to fight communism. Consumers' Research collected files to document the links (perceived or real) between individuals or organizations associated with the Communist Party or any other leftist groups in the United States. Files were compiled on individuals and groups when they were identified by CR as communists, fellow travelers, left-wing infiltrators, or front organizations.
