Edith Patch, born in Worcester, Mass. in 1876, received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1901, an M.S. from the University of Maine in 1910 and a Ph.D. from Cornell in 1911. She came to the University of Maine in 1903, organizing the department of entomology at the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station there and serving as head of the department from 1904 until her retirement in 1937.
