Consists of letters sent during the period in which Henry B. Anthony served in the U.S. Senate. The letters date from 1862 to 1884, although the bulk dates from 1870 to 1884. There are twelve letters to Schuyler Colfax that discuss the public's opinion of Colfax; Colfax's visit to Providence; and other political matters including Reconstruction elections, political candidates, and the balance of votes in the Senate.
