Oral history, 1994.

Eloise Ricciardelli chronicles her growing up in Brazil, her college education, her initial employment at the Museum in the 1950s as a receptionist in the Personnel Department and her gradual rise to the position of Registrar. Dorothy H. Dudley's leadership and the influence of the Museum's Registrar Department on registration procedures throughout the Museum community is also discussed. Ms. Ricciardelli insightfully comments on the Museum's growth in staff and program from the 1960's through the mid-1980's, including the. impact of increased exhibitions both circulating (national and international) and those held at the Museum, on the work of the Department of the Registrar, and the conservation aspects of her work. She discusses the effects of the Museum's unionization (PASTA) and recalls the events surrounding the return of Picasso's "Guernica" to Spain in 1981. She recounts anecdotes about her travels abroad as art courier for the Museum and describes her relationships with Margareta Akermark, Riva Castleman, Arthur Drexler, Joanne Godbout Koch, Richard E. Oldenburg, William Rubin, and James Snyder.
