Executive orders, 1920-1923.

These records document Governor Edwin P. Morrow's power and privilege to issue commands and instructions. Included are a number of orders directing the Kentucky National Guard to prevent violence during trials; to maintain order; and to quell violence resulting from feuds and strikes. Also included is an order denying the petition of the Woodford County jailer to be reinstated. Governor Morrow had removed him from office by executive proclamation after the jailer had allowed a mob to lynch a black prisoner.
