Progress reports, 1961-1970 [state publication].

These progress reports highlight the planning, development, and growth of public libraries in the state from 1956 to 1970. Statistics showed increases in appropriations, book stocks, new libraries and extensions, circulation, staff, and equipment. Included are summaries of special grants awarded (for services, construction, equipment, demonstration, expansion, study and training, etc.), special services provided (prisons, jails, reformatories, and the establishment of the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped), legislation enacted, library education projects (conferences, workshops, courses taught, in-service training, etc. as well as staff attendance at professional meetings), publications, and planned events. Much of the growth was credited to the Library Services Act and the State Plan under the Library Services and Construction Act. Similar information may be found in the annual reports of the agency. The series documents the activities of the agency in promoting the growth of public libraries in the state.
