This collection contains the papers of John Ely, Sr. relating to his claims against the U.S. government; John Ely, Jr.'s papers regarding the military land grant to Jacob Bartow; and the papers of Leonard Bronk Lampman regarding his genealogy and the Bronck House. The remainder of the papers include items on the Bronk and Lampman family genealogies collected by Leonard Bronk Lampman. Included are pedigree charts, typescript copies of biographies of Lampman's ancestors and copies of land titles relating to the Bronck House historic site. These papers also include correspondence between Lampman and officials of the New York State Education Department regarding information on his ancestors.

Leonard Bronk Lampman was a descendant of the Dutch settler Peter Bronck and the Revolutionary War Doctor John Ely. The family owned the Bronk House, situated near Coxsackie, New York. It is now owned and operated as a historic site by the Greene County Historical Society. Doctor John Ely was a physician in the state of Connecticut prior to the American Revolution.
