Vincent R. Impellitteri was the 101st mayor of New York, serving from 1950-1953. Born in Sicily on February 4, 1900, he was also the first Itailian Mayor of New York. He attended Fordham University and received his law degree in 1924. After 5 years in private practice he became an assistant district attorney of the County of New York from 1929-1937. Impellitteri was an obscure judicial clerk when the City's Democratic leadership chose him to run for City Council president with mayor...
