A British architect, designer, painter and teacher of Iraqi descent, Zaha Hadid was born in 1950 in Baghdad. Hadid draws on the Suprematist ideas of Kazimir Malevich; her work, labeled "deconstructivist," finds shape in the clash between fragmentary superimposed geometric forms.
