Correspondence, reports, and a map documenting the work of the United States-Russian Telegraph Expedition, organized by the Western Union Telegraph Company, with Bulkley as chief engineer, to survey areas in British Columbia, Alaska, and Siberia preliminary to constructing a telegraph line linking Europe and America. Robert Kennicott (1835-1865?) and Henry Martyn Bannister (1844-1920) were naturalists and explorers of the Alaska Territory in the mid-1860's.
