Material originally gathered by Garretson. Consists primarily of correspondence between members of the Plainsmen Society, with a few from the American Bison Society. Letters contain reminiscences about early days in the West, with references to such personalities as William Henry Jackson, Buffalo Bill, Wild Bill Hickok, and Calamity Jane. Besides Garretson, correspondents include Jesse Brown, Dan W. Greenburg, William Francis Hooker, A.B. Ostrander, Ellis T. Peirce, Edmund Seymour, Clark B. Stocking, and George W. Stokes. Also included are articles written by correspondents, newsclipping, and a few photographs.
