Charles Waddell Chesnutt letters, 1899-1900.

The collection consists of three letters, including: to M.A. DeWolfe Howe, 31 Oct. 1899, sending his biography of Frederic Douglass; to Herbert Small, of Small, Maynard and Co., 6 Nov. 1899, about his work, and Small's comment about essays in the life and literature of colored people; to Mr. Lawrence Maynard, of Small, Maynard and Co., 26 Dec. 1900, acknowledging receipt of a royalty check for his Douglass biography.
