Family letters of a Quaker from Farmington [Conn.?] (1842 and 1847) and North Ferrisburgh, Vt. (1846) to her sister and brother-in-law and nephew in Michigan. The 1846 letter reveals her opinions of Andrew Jackson, annexation of Texas, and the Mexican War.

Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States. Born on March 15, 1767 in the Waxhaw Settlement in South Carolina; though just a boy, participated in the battle of Hanging Rock during the Revolution, captured by the British and imprisoned. He worked for a time in a saddler's shop and afterward taught school before studying law in Salisbury, N.C.
