Annie Montague Alexander papers 1904-1949

Contains incoming and outgoing correspondence of Annie Montague Alexander, concerning the establishment, work with and gifts to the Museum of Vertebrae Zoology (MVZ) at the University of California, Berkeley. The bulk of the letters are from Joseph Grinnell, the first Director of the MVZ. Other correspondents include Seth Bertram Benson, E. Raymond Hall and Alden H. Miller. Also includes scrapbooks containing photographs and copies of letters written by Alexander and her father, Samuel T. Alexander, while on safari in British East Africa (present-day Kenya) in 1904. Collection does not include correspondence with her companion Louise Kellogg. Papers concerning the establishment and work with the University of California Museum of Paleontology can be found at that museum.

E. Raymond Hall was born on May 11, 1902, in Imes, Kansas. Hall received his A.B. from the University of Kansas in 1924.
