A leader in the American Renaissance Movement, with special interest in the Beaux-Arts style, John Galen Howard came to California in 1892-1893. He was chosen to execute the Hearst plan for the University of California, Berkeley, and later founded the School of Architecture at Berkeley. Gabriel Moulin was a San Francisco photographer who documented 20th century San Francisco. Moulin originally worked for Isaac Taber and R.J. Waters until he began Moulin Studios. Moulin was one of the official photographers of the Golden Gate International Exposition.
