Gladwin Hill (b.1914) was a reporter, wire editor, feature writer, columnist (1932- ), and war correspondent in Europe (1944-46). She later served as chief of the Los Angeles bureau of the (1946-68), was a member of the board of directors for the Los Angeles Press Club, and a national environmental correspondent (1969- ). The collection consists of manuscript articles, book manuscripts, manuscripts of speeches and lectures, correspondence, essays, unpublished materials, interview notes, personal diaries (1935-73), Los Angeles Bureau records and correspondence, photographs, and ephemera. Biographical Note Gladwin Hill (1914-1992) was born in Boston and graduated from the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachussetts in 1932 and Harvard College in 1936. He started his career as a journalist working for the Associated Press . He spent World War II in Europe as a war correspondent.
