Vigfus Asmundson (1895-1974) served as Professor of Poultry Husbandry at the University of California, Davis from 1933-1967. His Papers contain two project files related to his research with poultry growth and reproduction in turkeys, as well as reprints of a number of his articles.

The University of California, Davis campus, originally known as the University Farm, was established by an act of the State Legislature in 1905. Vigfus Samundur Asmundson was born on September 24, 1895 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He received a B.S. from the University of Saskatchewan (1918), an M.S. from Cornell University (1920), and a Ph.D in Genetics and Poultry Husbandry from the University of Wisconsin (1930). Asmundson joined the staff of the Poultry Husbandry Department at the University of British Columbia in 1920 and served there until 1932.
