Innovative Academic Courses (IAC) was instituted in the fall of 1985 to administer three existing alternative academic programs: SWOPSI, Stanford Workshops on Political and Social Issues, UGS, Undergraduate Special Courses, and Freshman-Sophomore Seminars.
