In 1919 Edward Bushnell was appointed publicity agent for the University of Pennsylvania. His appointment began a long and expanding effort at public relations at the University. In 1954 the Department of Public Relations expanded its work to include two new units, Motion Picture Services and the Office of Radio and Television. Boll was born Jan. 6, 1902 in NYC; attended Univ. of PA (BA, 1922; MA, 1924; Ph. D., 1930); spent entire teaching career at Univ. of PA (1922-72) and became professor emeritus of English in 1972; author of biographical and critical introductions to Stephen Hudson's book, Richard, Myrtle, and I (1962); also author of Miss May Sinclair, novelist : a biographical and critical introduction (1973) and many articles.
