A major thrust of the Festival was to preserve and display the ethnic traditions and pioneer skills that had helped to form the state. The Festival features entertainment, skill demonstrations, local and ethnic food and beverages, music, and other programs. The Festival is held annually on the Institute of Texan Cultures grounds at the HemisFair Park Campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio. The collection spans the years 1970 through 2008 and contains correspondence, memoranda, newsletters, press releases, financial records, photographs, posters, and other materials documenting the Texas Folklife Festival.
