Emma Martin Carter papers, 1918-1957

Emma Martin was born in 1884 in Fort Worth. In 1905, she moved to San Antonio, marrying Claud Julian Carter (son of Edward Frank Carter and Alice B. Cleaves) in 1908. Carter was founding president of the Women's Democratic Club of Bexar County. This collection spans the years 1918-1957 and consists of material on the Democratic National Convention including scrapbooks, name tag/ribbon, program of entertainment booklet, biographical sketches of the Texas Delegates pamphlet, and a Dinner in Honour of the Delegates and Alternates program; other material on the Democratic party including a booklet, The Democrat Who Can Win, invitations; Inaugural ball dance book, Inauguration program, newspaper clippings, correspondence, loose scrapbook pages.
