Henry Raguet (1796-1877) was born in Pennsylvania. After serving in the War of 1812, he moved with his wife, Marcia Ann Towers, to Cincinnati, Ohio and set up a business. After going bankrupt, he met Sam Houston and John Durst in New Orleans and took a trip with them to Texas, which induced him to move there. Born to John Reily and Nancy Hunter in Hamilton, Ohio, James Reily (1811-1864) graduated from Miami University in 1829. After studying law at Transylvania University, Reily married Ellen Hart Ross in 1834. A year later, he was admitted to the bar and began practicing law in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
