Thomas Terry Connally (1877-1963) represented Texas in the United States Congress for 35 years, serving in the House of Representatives from 1916 to 1929 and in the Senate from 1929 to 1953. A native of Texas, Blaine Speights Hollimon, Jr. (1910-1974) attended school in Ennis, Texas, winning the second Extemporaneous Speaking State Championship at the University Interscholastic League for the 1924-1925 school year.
