Huey Meaux was born near Kaplan, Louisiana to Cajun parents who worked as sharecroppers. At age twelve he and his family moved to Winnie, Texas. In his twenties, he worked as a barber and then made the move to the music business. He hosted the Crazy Cajun radio program on KPFT-FM in Houston, began the Crazy Cajun record label and Sugar Hill Studios and became the biggest hitmaker in Texas and Louisiana.
