John W. Jack Rush, Jr., of Perry, Illinois, served in the U.S. Army’s 73rd Illinois Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Returning to Perry after the war, Rush married Anna Morrison in 1867. He operated a farm and ranch, where the Rushes raised several children. He traveled all over the United States, buying and selling supplies and land.
