Historian and author, Louise Horton (1916-2005) was born Louise Charlotte Walthall in Granbury, Texas. In 1938, she married Claude Wendell Horton (1915-2002), a professor of physics at the University of Texas at Austin, and the couple had two children, physicist C. Wendell Horton and Margaret Horton Morefield. Louise Horton graduated with a B. A. degree from Rice University in 1938.
