Marshall and Fox, Drawings and records, 1900-1959, Chicago 1900-1959

Marshall and Fox was a Chicago architectural firm (1905-1926), best known for luxury apartment buildings and hotels. After Charles Eli Fox's death in 1926, Bejamin Marshall continued to practice alone until the 1930s, at which time Lewis B. Walton, Marshall's chief architect, took over the firm; successor firms were Walton and Kegley (1935-1950) and Walton and Walton (1950-1969). The collection is comprised of drawings (9,500), contract ledgers and account books (36 volumes), specifications, a limited amount of correspondence, plat books and a scrapbook documenting the work of the Chicago architectural firms of Benjamin Marshall, Marshall and Fox, successor firms Walton and Kegley, Walton and Walton (1900-(1909-1929)-1959). Some of the Chicago buildings included in the Drawings Series are the Edgewater Beach Hotel, Blackstone Theater, 209 Lake Shore Drive, 1550 North State Parkway, Drake Hotel, Blackstone Hotel, Illinois Theater, John B. Thompson Co., Lake Shore Trust and Savings.
