Donald Barthelme was an experimental short story writer and novelist who contributed frequently to magazine in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. He remains best known for his classic collection . Barthelme served as director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston for many years. The collection contains typescript drafts, galley proofs, and page proofs of Barthelme's work, correspondence with fellow writers, and other materials related to Barthelme's writing and teaching career.
