Frank Reaugh was the son of George Washington and Clarinda Spilman Reaugh, born on December 6, 1860 near Jacksonville, Illinois. In 1876 his family moved to a small ranch near Terrell, Texas. Inspired by his mother and the landscape where he grew up with its natural environs, young Reaugh began drawing wildlife and scenic views. Ranch scenes with cattle grazing and longhorns seem to draw his attention the most. He received his training from the School of Fine Arts in St. Louis during 1884-1885 b...
