The records of the Texas Planning Board consist of reports, maps, charts, photographs, minutes, financial materials, correspondence, public works projects files, press releases, and clippings, dating 1914-1939 and undated (bulk 1934-1939). The records cover the entire time span of the Board's existence, 1935-1939, with some earlier files dating back to 1914. The Board's research activities are documented through published and unpublished reports, maps, charts, photographs, notes, and reference materials. The water basin and ground water studies, and parts of staff project 6909, which focused on natural resources and economic conditions of the state, are the most thoroughly covered. Coverage of other subjects is generally limited to published reports, charts, and maps, and include mineral studies, public works projects, work with local planning boards, forestry and other industries, population studies, recreational facilities, and transportation.
