Dr. Anderson received many honors for his teaching and scholarship, the most significant being the Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching, Outstanding Professor Award, and Professor Emeritus of English, all from Texas A & M Univesity. The bulk of the collection consists of term papers on folklore from students in Dr. Anderson's English 329 class at Texas A & M, some of which he later gathered into a book titled . Many fieldnotes on folklore, clippings, research materials, and memorabilia make up the remainder of the collection, with some correspondence with folklore enthusiasts and miscellaneous publications on folklore.
