Agnes Spence was a longtime resident of Austin, Texas. Shw was a descendent of Thomas Spence. Thomas Spence and his wife Agnes Telfer moved to Austin, Texas in the 1870s from Scotland. Thomas was following his two brothers James Hall and Robert. Thomas and Agnes had four children that lived to adulthood; John, Fannie, Esther and Hugh.
