Broda Otto Barnes, M.D., Ph.D. (1904-1988) studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Chicago, where he eventually completed a Ph.D. on the thyroid gland. He then taught physiology at the University of Chicago and later became a professor of medicine at the University of Illinois. In 1984, Barnes and his wife founded the Broda O.
