Oliver Max Gardner (1882-1947), an alumnus of North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University), served as governor of North Carolina and chair of the Advisory Board of the U.S. Office of War Mobilization and Reconversion. The Oliver Max Gardner Papers consists of four items related to Gardner's governorship and chairmanship of the above-mentioned Advisory Board. Two of the items are letters to or from President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and one item is a letter from the Secretary to the President Jonathan Daniels.
