George Heyward Dunlap Papers 1942-1966

George Heyward Dunlap (1902-1969) became Director of the Placement Bureau and Student Activities in the School of Textiles at North Carolina State College (later North Carolina State University) in 1947, successfully increasing enrollment and improving teacher-student relations before his retirement in 1965. Floopy George H. Dunlap's papers, dated 1942-1966 and undated, contain clippings, articles, and photographs pertaining mostly to his tenure as Professor at the School of Textiles at North Carolina State College for twenty-two years.

The Golden Chain Honor Society was formed in 1926, and 12 senior students were selected to be the first members of the "golden chain" of exceptional NC State students.
