The Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies Foundation, Inc., was established on 8 July 1974 as a non-profit corporation. Its object was to preserve, maintain, restore, and enhance those literary, historical, and artistic properties that are entrusted to it by the Dialectic Society and the Philanthropic Society of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
