St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Edenton,N.C., was organized in 1701. Materials include a microfilmed volume with minutes ofthe vestry and other records, 1701-1776; records of the Overseers of the Poor, 1778-1779; and an account of the services of Rev. Charles Pettigrew, 1781. Also includedis a copy of the 1776 declaration of independence of the vestry of St. Paul'sChurch; and a typed copy of the 1846 indenture relating to maintenance of thePettigrew burial ground. Materials from the 1880s through the 1930s include letters,financial documents, membership lists, club reports, and a few items relating to theDiocese of East Carolina and to the activities of other Episcopal churches. In the1940s and 1950s, there are similar materials with the addition of many itemsrelating to the work of the St. Paul's Restoration and Building committees,including copies of earlier documents relating to the church's architectural historyand financial items documenting work done during the restoration/building process.In the 1960s through the 1990s, most items relate to general churchoperations.
