Sterling A. Stoudemire was born in Concord, N.C., in 1902. He was a long-time professor of Spanish, and chair in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of North Carolina. The collection includes correspondence, subject files, pictures, clippings, and other materials documenting Sterling A. Stoudemire's career as a student and teacher of Spanish language and literature and his involvement with various professional associations and faculty committees at the University of North Carolina. The collection also contains a variety of personal items, as well as letters and other materials of his wife, Mary Arthur Stoudemire, and his son, Cranford Stoudemire.
