Southern Growth Policies Board Records, 1971-1999

The Southern Growth Policies Board (SGPB), established in 1971, is a public research agency governed and supported by the state governments of the southern United States, which analyzes information and makes policy recommendations to promote sound economic development of the region. Its offices are located in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Records include the SGPB's organizational files, including administrative, financial, and business papers; records on the administration and performance of grants and special projects; records on the administration and activities of adjunct organizations; copies of SGPB's major publications; subject files on individual states, internal committees, outside organizations, and miscellaneous topics; and other materials, mostly nonprint. The records cover a wide variety of topics, including growth management, natural resources, vocational education, urban and rural growth, transportation, international trade opportunities, and technological advancement in the South. Record types include correspondence and memoranda, financial and business papers, personnel records, subject files, reports and publications, promotional and conference materials, photographs, slides, audio and video tapes, films, and computer tapes.
