North Carolina Emergency ReliefAdministration Statistics, 1934-1935

The North Carolina Emergency ReliefAdministration was a division of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA),a New Deal program enacted to alleviate adult unemployment. The collection includes typed analyses, tables, andsummaries compiled by North Carolina Emergency Relief Administration statisticianHugh P. Brinton. The compilations include the number of individuals and familiesreceiving assistance in each county, with data concerning gender, race, age,financial history, employment status, and medical care. There are also some loosemimeographed items such as instructions issued to the county offices for the caseworkers gathering data and sample blank forms used for recording thedata.
